Welcome to Basement Studios. B-S was a webcomic written by Michael R Uziel and Andrew Waldrip back in 2001. I suppose we started because we saw sites like Penny Arcade and PvP and thought "We're funny, Mike can draw and we've got a crap load of free time... webcomics are for us!" After a trip to E3 that year we came home to craft our masterpiece.

We ran it for the better part of a year but school and differences of opinion (read: Andy got lazy) got in the way.
The strip eventually ended in November of that year. Michael went on to finish school at the University of Washington
and then continued school at DigiPen Institute of Technology
(as of April 2006 the icon for "Production Animation" on the school's main page uses a 3d model done by Michael).
Mike now works as a concept artist for Airtight Games
. A few non-NDA protected examples of his current work can be found
here
and

.
I'm still hacking away at what was a college job when I started but I should be back at UW soon to finish where I left off in 2001.
I've been intending to get these strips up for a long time now and I've finally shed that malaise that kept me from finishing the damn site for so long. The only problem that I have encountered is that I don't know if I have the full Basement collection. After countless PC upgrades, hard drive wipes, and bad back-up practices I'm starting to think I've lost a few strips. If anyone out there happened to keep copies of the strips (if you happened to love us that much) please drop me a line if you have one I missed. All of the strips will open in their own window so be warned.
Finally, on behalf of Mike and myself I'd like to thank all of you who read our work when it was active and especially those who joined in on the forums. I really wish I had some of those old forum threads to read over from time to time. There were many, many of you that were a blast to goof off with and even a few who tossed us your hard earned coin. Trust me, we haven't forgotten and we thank you all to this day. If you want to drop us a line please do; we'd love to hear what you are all up to! Our emails are right there at the bottom of the page.
As Mike used to say: Peace 'n hair grease
